EVALUATION QUESTION 7: Looking back at your preliminary task, What do you feel you learnt in the progession from it to the full product?

EVALUATION QUESTION 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Through the process of constructing my product I have learnt about various technologies.

From the beginning, I started of with using different ways of uploading (on the blog); like survey monkey (for market research- questionnaires) Voki, Videos, Youtube and voice recordings, Flickr, Prezi, Slideshare, Sliderocket; these have made it easier to present my work over different types of media, whether it was annotating or publicy showing presentations.

Then I started to use the creative side, using the cameras to capture suitable images for my magazine, therefore I needed to be able to use the lighting, ampiture, shutter speed etc correctly. Consequently this meant that I would have needed to manipulate and edit the pictures even further; this improve my skills using Photoshop and BeFunky, to further adapt or change my images to perfection.

This then meant that I needed to use my newly adapted/manipulated images on the magazine in general, this included using different software like Photoshop and Indesign to create the magazine in a whole, which allowed me to use different fonts, add shadows, and graphics to the magazine. This is a big step from the Prelim as I have a more a range of software to use (indesign) so I am not limited to just the use of Photoshop.

Overall, the technologies I have learnt about through the process of constructing my media product have improved greatly so that I have produced a From Cover, Contents Page and Double page Spread to a good quality for a music magazine.

EVALUATION QUESTION 5: How did you attract/address your audience?

Below are the images to the question, click on the individual images for the new window of the annotations on flickr.

AFTER ADJUSTMENTS

Today, Miss Burne gave several pointers where i could further improve my Contents page and my front page, after listening to her advice, these further amendments have been made.

CONTENTS PAGE EDITING

After adding this image to my Magazine, I further edited it so it would stand out from the page. I added a drop shadow in the  blending options to make the makes seem more professional by using more of my photoshop skills.

This is the picture that I used on the contents page, that I further developed.

FURTHER PROGRESSION

From these two images, a few amendments have been made,
a button and a few more cover lines have been added to fill up the white space.

OLLY MURS CONCERT

Fortunately, after receiving an Olly Murs Concert Ticket for Christmas, this became and gave me a huge advantage on snapping some great pictures of him for my magazines, if they were successful.

A CHANGE OF PICTURE

For my Double Page spread, i orginally Had this picture, but as i went along with the designing of the double page spread, I found that there was too much white space making the page look empty. I then started to look at other images that i could be able to use on the double page spread.
After looking through all the picture I took of Emma Lenihan i found that this one would be a useful picture as it relates to the article on the double page spread. Talking about Angry and Support through out her musical lifestyle. But choosing this image, it means that i have to change the pull qoute on the front cover, as it doesnt not really make the "secret" more profound but you think more about the frustration she has to go through with this image.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD INSPIRATION

This is the image I have used for inspiration on my double page spread. I have particularly been focusing on the pull quote on this magazine, as it has used a variety of colours and sizes. This will make my magazine seem original and contribute to it by looking like a pop rock magazine.

CHANGING THE MASTHEAD

Previously I thought I had chosen that this picture would be my final masthead, but after lookin at pop rock magazines I found that it was unconvential for music magazines to have coloured in letters.

Due to this I chose to use a plainer, simplier masthead which was more convential for pop rock magazines.

FINDING AN UPCOMING FESTIVAL

I have found an upcoming festival for pop rock artists, this will be included on the front page and content page.

THE MAGAZINE SO FAR...

This is my magazine so far, I have added different coverlines to make the magazine more realistic.

To improve this I will need to fill up the white space, either with text or even another button.

WHAT COLOUR?

These images are two different types of text. I have changed the colour, and now I am deciding which one looks the best and the most suitable for the pop rock genre.

WORKING ON PHOTOSHOP

From using the magnetic lasso tool, I was able to cut out where the title will be.
After creating this Font in Powerpoint, I imported it into photoshop, This allowed me to colour the letters seperately and to good quality. I coloured the letters seperately using the Magic Wand Tool, this allowed to click a selection, and using Alt+Backspace coloured it in with the selected colour without becoming pixelised.

This evidently helped create the final Prop Title.

EDITING

Using Photoshop, I played around with the settings: brightness and contrast and hue and saturation, after doing this I came up with an edit that really suited the genre Pop/Rock.

Beth Anne King wrote:
We know you’re in the midst of your coursework at college, how do you find time to focus on and enjoy your music?
Emma Lenihan wrote:
Um well once I receive new pieces of coursework I begin to start on them as soon as possible so that if I have study periods I'm able to work on my music
Beth Anne King wrote:
So your priority is your coursework?
Emma Lenihan wrote:
And revision *-*
Beth Anne King wrote:
that obviously makes u smart and talented ^_^ do you ever feel that sometimes you wish you could spend more time on your music?
Emma Lenihan wrote:
If it was up to me I would've attended a music college but atlast it was not so yes I do wish I could spend more time with music, cause if not for music I fear as if I wouldn't be here today. Ahaha and thank you Smiling face (black and white) Just because I divide my time doesn't make me smart :')) just good with how I spend my time :P
Beth Anne King wrote:
You say that if its up to you you would have attended music college, so on the hush hush what convinced you not to?
Emma Lenihan wrote:
It's not even a matter of what convinced me not too, it's more based around me not being allowed too...
Beth Anne King wrote:
So tell me, who is stopping you?
Emma Lenihan wrote:
My parents it's not really something that they would like to see/hear that their daughter is a music artist which is why I keep it on the down low
Beth Anne King wrote:
Its amazing that your so passionate about your music and you find ways to keep the music alive, keeping it from the heart, keeping this on the down low does it give you a thrill from the feeling of rebellion? hahahaa
Emma Lenihan wrote:
Ahahah sometimes it gives me a little bit of excitement, but then sometimes I feel a bit upset because they're unable to support me and stuff
Beth Anne King wrote:
Just to late you know that you've got the staff back at the hub are all dedicated and behind you! We can see your so passionate about your music, Who has inspired you to become this amazing passionate singer that you have moulded yourself into today?
Emma Lenihan wrote:
Ahahah you're very sweet and thank you I already love your staff! :') and um My main influence would have to be Jason Mraz just because he's able to mix different genres of music and make it his own y'know. But then again I am inspired by Jessie J just because the way she has so much control over her voice.
Beth Anne King wrote:
Jason Mraz and Jessie J are two of our favorite artists back at base, we know that they all have their little crews at backstage, have you got a lil crew that has got ya back?
Emma Lenihan wrote:
Ahhaa yeah I recently moved from my secondary school to college and have past friends from over their but since I started college I just clicked with two particular people who seem to just understand me and I consider them as my babies :'3
Beth Anne King wrote:
Aww that's so cute! ;) They must be always addicted to your sound cloud then? because we know we are!
 Emma Lenihan wrote:
AHAHA! How did you knowwwww?! Yess yes they are they treat me as if I'm already big and famouss
Beth Anne King wrote:
AHHH WERE MORE CLEVER THAN YOU THINK!! ;) We treat you as big and famous aswell you know, we're not jealous or anything!! How do you feel about your music being worldwide on your sound cloud channel? Cos' we think its pretty damn fabulous!
Emma Lenihan wrote:
Ahhh it's amazing it's just so surprising to see people who actually spend their time to listen to my music it's just wow, I'm completely gobsmacked at the amount of plays I've received.
Beth Anne King wrote:
Whats the most amount plays you've EVER received?
Emma Lenihan wrote:
My most played has to be my cover of sweet nothing by Florence welch and Calvin Harris gaining 3,841 plays ahhh
Beth Anne King wrote:
WOW! Was just going to mention that song you had covered! TOTALLY AMAZEBALLS! My favourite! Not that I'm stalking your channel or anything... After listening to a couple of your covers, when you sing, do you enforce your emotion or feelings into your music?
Emma Lenihan wrote:
Ofc every song I choose to sing needs to have some sort of connection with me
Beth Anne King wrote:
Well I can definitely feel the connection with me and my headphones... Well keep those amazing songs coming and your talent close to your heart! Talk To you Soon!!

WHAT ABOUT A BLOG NAME?!?!?!

After Researching lots of website; this website http://www.bandnamemaker.com/generator/?cw=Pop+Rock proved to be useful when generating music names, it is specifically made for generating band names but it could also be useful for generatoring music magazine names. This helped me to generate a few possible magazine names.
The one I have chosen to take forward is Prop; a mix of both Pop and Rock! Prop! It allows relates to the music theme as props are used in the photography and on stage in musical concerts!

INSPIRATION FOR PHOTOSHOOT

These following images will be used tomorrow for inspiration when I take photos for the front page magazine.

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

This questions are the questions I will consider when asking questions in the interview, I can elaborate on this question which creates the interview like a conversation;

1. We know you’re in the midst of your coursework at college, how do you find time to focus on and enjoy your music?
2. How do you find time for music when you’re in the midst of your coursework in college?
3. Who has inspired you to become this amazing singer that you have moulded yourself into today?
4. When us back at base listen to you music; you don’t sound like the average artist, to you personally what is music about? Is it about the fame or merely just for the ways in which you show you emotions and lets others understand you?
 5. When you producing your music, do you enforce what you feel into your music?
 6. I see that you have your own sound cloud page, how do you feel with people listening to your music worldwide? And to you do you feel the number of people listening to your music.

FLAT PLAN EVALUATION

From the feedback for the flat plan, the flat plan could be more appropriate for the target audience in the materials, the flat plan could have more variety and more detail in the fonts and text size. Also, the text and the images could integrate more.
The Flat plan was successful as the text on the front cover goes well with the contents page. The Flat plan could be improved by adding more page numbers on the contents age, to refer back to the text on the double page spread.
Overall, I will make sure that the magazine will have a variety of text and a suitable amount of fonts to be successful. Also, I need to make sure I include page numbers on every page, so it follows the conventions of referring back to the content page for page numbers in a music magazine.

FLAT PLAN FEEDBACK

This is the feedback from someone who analysed my flat plans and has given ways in which to improve. I will take into consideration the comments that have been made into my final magazine.

FINAL FLAT PLAN

The final flat plans:
including colour, variety ot text and fonts.

DRAFT FLAT PLAN

These are the flat plans that I have been working towards for the past couple of days,
The flat plan consists of :
  1. Influenced by research,
  2. Medium Close Up Shot on front page,
  3. Has a range of cover lines; different sizes.
  4. A minmum of 4 different images.

DESIGNING A FLAT PLAN

What must be included??
I am going to be referring to this work throughtout the designing on the flatplan.

  1. It must be as detailed as possbile with text and colour complted. It should look like your completed magazine will do. (apart from the interview).
  2. You should show how your research has influenced the design of the flat plan and ahouls include a minimum of 4 different images.
  3. The design can and willl change and adapt but you must always explain and justify these changes.
  4. At the end, the finished magazine should be recognisable from the flat plan.

MARKET RESEARCH ANALYSIS (MULTIPLE CHOICE)

For this analysis, I am going to go through the main questions in which my multiple choice survey was answered.

From these answers, it shows that people think that who is being featured and the price is most important, while the colour scheme and posters are least favourited. This suggests that all though these all need to be covered, the main featuring and the price is what I need to focus on to meet the preferences of the magazine readers.

From these selections, most people think that the image on a double page spread should be covering a decent amount on the page, some others say that 3/4 of the page should have a image, overall these two can work together for my magazine.
